Providers receive reimbursement checks for eligible meals and snacks served to children in care. The checks can be picked up at the CACFP Office or are mailed to providers on the 18th of each month.

The United States Department of Agriculture establishes the meal reimbursement rates and have set the rule that providers can be reimbursed a maximum of 2 meals and 1 snack or 2 snacks and 1 meal per child, per day, based on the provider's Department of Human Services certificate registration capacity.

There are two different reimbursement rates - Tier 1 and Tier 2. All registered providers are eligible for Tier 2 reimbursement rates. Some providers receive Tier 1 reimbursement rates as determined by geographic data, a provider?s household income, and/or the household income of the enrolled children in care. Sounds confusing? Each provider's situation is unique and the tier rate will be discussed individually at the time a provider starts CACFP participation.

Current Meal Reimbursement Rates (effective 7-1-13 through 6-30-14):
Breakfast Lunch/Supper Snacks
Tier 1$1.28$2.40$0.71
Tier 2$0.47$1.45$0.19

In addition to receiving meal reimbursement for children in care, providers can claim meal reimbursement for residential children if the Provider's household income meets the established income eligibility guidelines and at least one nonresidential child is present and claimed for each meal/snack with the residential child.
