Head Start

Community Action of Eastern Iowa has been providing comprehensive Head Start (HS) preschool programming for over 40 years. Currently, 23 centers are serving 553 children and their families in 4 counties (Cedar, Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott).

Our centers provide a variety of programming options which includes: full-day, full year, as well as, part-day, part-year preschool.

The Head Start Program Includes:

• No- Cost, individualized education
• Preparation for Kindergarten
• Caring teachers
• Nutritious, warm meals
• Health and developmental progress reports
• Family interaction and support
• At least 10% of enrollment opportunities for children with special needs and disabilities

Early Head Start

Early Head Start (EHS) serves infants, toddlers, and pregnant women in Scott County. Its mission is to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning.

Scott County Early Head Start is currently serving 40 children and/or pregnant mothers.
